Mike Ashley launches legal battle over Rangers trademarks

Ashley has lodged the action as he bids to win ownership of Rangers’ name, trademarks, crests and badges.
The shareholder, who controls the retail arm of the company as part of an agreement with former chief executive Charles Green, is also suing the club for £1 million.

Hide AdIt’s the latest twist in a long-running battle between Ashley and the Rangers board, which began when chairman Dave King forced out the old regime at an EGM last year.
Rangers Retail, controlled by Ashley, used to hold the rights over club trademarks, logos and the names of the club and stadium. However, these were withdrawn by the club earlier this year.
Sports Direct are arguing that they were not provided with sufficient notice. A hearing has been scheduled for 1 December.
