In-form Barr looking to repeat Princes St Gardens form in Sparta show
Barr was one of a small band of Capital boxers to win on the Edinburgh versus London boxing show at Princes Street Gardens last month and the 24-year-old mechanic hopes to hit the same heights this weekend.
“I was thrilled to be one of the victorious boxers in Princes Street Gardens last month and I’m looking for a repeat against Stewart Campbell on Sunday.”

Another Sparta light-welterweight boxer looking to impress is Calum Vardy, who takes on Ian Keys of Lochend.
Sparta coach Scott Forsyth revealed: “Calum has the incentive of sharpening up ahead of the Scottish Novices championships at Meadowbank. I’ve had Calum do enhanced punchpad work with me and he has looked good in sparring too.’’
Sparta coach Forsyth has also high hopes for his bantamweight counterpuncher, Kieran Dignan, who clashes with Lochend’s Lewis Lomax.
Lochend welterweight Tommy Philbin –another Princes Street Gardens winner – clashes over four rounds with Western District champion and Scottish internationalist Grant Quigley of the Port Glasgow club.
Also boxing on the bill will be Sparta brothers, light-welterweight Mikey Woods and bantamweight brother Brian, against East Lothian’s Martin Buist and the Bronx’s Patrick Logan respectively.
Boxing commences at 1pm on Sunday and a restricted number of tickets, priced £10, will be available on the door.
• A special trophy presentation will be made during the Sparta show to former Scottish lightweight champion “Mighty” Malcolm McKenzie, for his services to the club.
