In a Facebook post Boswell, from Cupar in Fife, said that it had taken him three hours to descend the mountain and a further two hours drive to get treatment.
He added: “Ok. Crazy news from Canada! I’m going to put it bluntly, but would just like to let everyone know I’m ok, just a little shook up and sore!
“I got attacked by a Grizzly bear last night and lived to tell the tale. All stitched up now and on the mend.”
One well-wisher posted: “Puts the dangers of Scottish winter climbing in perspective (no bears for a start). At least you got some great stuff done before this. Hope you get back into it soon.”
Another joked: “If you look like that, what the heck did you to the bear?”
And Joanna Croston added: “Glad you’re currently sitting in my living room drinking a beer right now.”
Boswell has travelled all over the world since he took up climbing in 2004 at the age of 13.
