“Our approach throughout the pandemic has been to encourage people to do the right thing to avoid the spread of the disease.
“However, where officers encounter blatant breaches of the legislation they will not hesitate to enforce the law where necessary to ensure public safety.
“The clear message to all supporters is do not attempt to gather at Celtic Park or any other location on Sunday. Doing so would be in breach of Covid laws and puts the health of those individuals, the wider public and our officers at risk.
“Police Scotland will continue to support the clubs in urging fans over the coming days to take personal responsibility, do the right thing and stay at home."
The Justice Secretary Humza Yousaf announced that the game would go ahead despite the mass crowds of Rangers fans who came out in force after they won the Scottish Cup earlier this month.
He said: "Police Scotland have confirmed there will be a significant police presence in Glasgow to maintain public safety.
"I urge the fans to listen to the messages from their clubs, the police and government to stay at home.
