Best Twitter reaction to Scottish Labour losses
The party’s poor fortunes at the ballot box were made all the worse by the meteoric rise of the SNP who gained 50 new seats bringing their Westminster contingent to 56 MPs - three short of a complete wipeout in Scotland.
Labour, the Lib Dems and the Conservatives retained one seat each.

Hide AdThe newly-elected SNP MPs included a familiar face in former SNP leader and First Minister, Alex Salmond, while 20-year-old student Mhairi Black scalped high-profile Labour MP Douglas Alexander to become the youngest MP since 1667.
Other prominent Scottish Westminster politicians to be axed by the electorate included the Lib Dem’s Jo Swinson and Danny Alexander and Scottish Labour Leader Jim Murphy.
Murphy was the subject of much of the Twitter storm online, particularly following his defiant speech on Friday morning in which he reaffirmed his intention to continue to lead the party north of the Border.
