Police in clear over attack on royal car
The duchess was poked in the ribs with a stick as the car was attacked in London's West End, and Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sir Paul Stephenson ordered an internal review of the incident, the details of which were submitted to Home Secretary Theresa May.
It was reported that royal protection officers had been warned by a police colleague not to drive down Regent Street 15 minutes before the couple were attacked by the mob on 10 December on their way to the Royal Variety Performance. But Scotland Yard said yesterday that no-one would be disciplined.
