We have a Labour Party in Scotland that is bereft of any talent to take it forward as a credible opposition to the SNP and we are told that Jim Murphy and Douglas Alexander are of sufficient stature to take on the First Minister as leader of the “Scottish” Labour Party, yet they decline as this will probably have a detrimental effect on their careers at Westminster.
Surely any politician who claims to be in the job to serve his country and party would be willing to disregard his own career advancement if it was advantageous to the greater good?

Hide AdIt would, in the case of Jim Murphy and Douglas Alexander, be the case that their present career comes before the good of the party in Scotland.
This may end in tears if Scotland becomes independent as there will be no recommendations to the House of Lords.
