The Chilcot Inquiry shows the British establishment, dysfunctional in everything except hiding its own mistakes, believes it has nothing to learn from the Iraq disaster.
We know this because the same rhetoric was used to justify the later Afghan invasion, the bombing of Tripoli which wrecked Libya and our cack-handed interference in Syria.
Yet the Bush-Blair correspondence is now largely irrelevant, for surely no-one still believes the nonsense talked about Saddam’s weapons of mass destruction was anything other than a pack of lies.
