The television series heralded as Scotland’s Game of Thrones has aired for the first time. The first series of Outlander, which is set entirely in the Scottish Highlands, is already thought to have generated £20 million for the economy and has been described as the biggest ever inward investment for the film and TV industry here.

Meanwhile, Scottish independence polls have narrowed as more undecided voters make up their minds with just over a month until Scotland goes to the ballot box.
