Man charged over Jordan Tapping racist abuse claim
A TEENAGER has been charged after a footballer complained of racist abuse during a match, police said.
Jordan Tapping, who plays for East Stirlingshire, was substituted after suffering “extreme distress” caused by alleged comments at a Scottish League Two game at Balmoor Stadium in Peterhead, Aberdeenshire, on Saturday.
Police Scotland said that a 19-year-old man has been charged in connection with the incident at the match, which Peterhead FC won 4-0.
He is expected to appear at Peterhead Sheriff Court tomorrow.
Inspector Andy Imray said: “We would like to thank both Peterhead and East Stirling for their co-operation.”
