Coronavirus in Scotland: 'Grim and distressing' milestone as Covid deaths in the country pass 5,000
They show 278 deaths were registered that mentioned Covid-19 on the death certificate between November 9 and 15, bringing the total number of fatalities to 5,135.
Speaking during the Scottish Government briefing in Edinburgh on Wednesday, First Minister Nicola Sturgeon said the figures are “really grim and distressing”.

Hide AdWednesday saw another 1,264 people test positive for the virus, with 1,241 patients in hospital and 88 of them in intensive care.
Ms Sturgeon also emphasised the importance of sticking to local guidelines as parts of Scotland prepare to move up into tier four restrictions.
She specifically mentioned those in the shielded category, saying that although they were not expected to have to remain indoors 24 hours a day as before, they were to take extra care when making essential trips.
